    Computer help?
    Hey all!
Bryson's computer is behaving funny. It declared that myspace was dangerous and closed him out. When he tried to log in again, it worked fine until it crashed the entire computer. It booted up a few times with just a black screen and a cursor, and once with a windows screen and limited options, and then just now, after he rebooted from that windows screen, and it came back up with a black screen again, and just now booted up with a fine windows window. The cursor works during the black screen episodes, but no keyboard commands work and he has to force shutdown.

    Could this:
    A) Be a virus which is new to us?
    or
    B) Be a failing harddrive?

    Please help! We're so confused.

    Slow day.
Went off shopping this morning. Got some things from the Container Store (bad for me to go in there, I swear, but flour cannister!) and Whole foods, and did the grocery shopping, and got a SUPER COMFY pair of pants from REI. I went out of my way to put them on just now, because OMG SO COMFY! They fit wonderfully, and go over my hip bones, and have a properly sized waist! YAY!!

Am currently making pork soup, and just finished baking Healthy Cookies (seriously, the 'worst' thing in them is bittersweet chocolate!) which aren't COOKIEs, but are very tasty biscuits. Now I just have to do tons and tons of homework for various homeworkish things. *AAAAAAH!*

    *panics*

    Dell memory question
Does anybody know if I could use this: http://accessories.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&category_id=6597&p=5 to upgrade my older-model Inspiron so that it's not so hideously slow? Also, is it the memory that makes start up slower, or is it something else?

    (I know nothing of computers)

Also, how easy is it to install memory into my laptop?

    Techy geek/Mp3 Player help?
I have an ipod tuner dock thingy for the car (ie, plug it into the cig lighter and tune it to a radio station, and it broadcasts to the car's radio system) with an ipod docky bit, but no ipod anymore. Does anybody know of other (perhaps LESS EXPENSIVE) music options I could use? All my music is in frikkin itunes format, is one of the problems. Any suggestions for other in-car options?

In other news, my mum has bequeathed me my grandparents' camp cooking gear - two pots and a frying pan, and three measuring/cups. I am rich in cookware. Dancing was kinda shit - mostly 'cause of me.

I have also decided I would definately be interested in getting a Bonsai for St Louis. My mother wisely pointed out that transport of bonsai is trickey business, and it would likely be better to et one there. The one thing I'm concerned about is a lack of choice in plant - I know I could make the best out of whatever plant I wound up with, but I do have my preferences, and I don't want to put time and energy into a plant which I'm not overly fond of.

Finally got paid for hours for tutoring. Hopefully I'll get word back on my June hours soon, and be absolutely, totally, completely and utterly done! Hopefully. I've been calling every day all week and haven't gotten so much as a peep in response.

Tonight is a delicious menu of jamacan curried goat (lamb, actually) and grilled veg. Then to Dancing. (ye gods its flipping hot)

    Blah blah blah to do.
I was trying to think of what I wanted to do, or have, or whatever, today, and I realized I wanted to just KNOW about things - know which apartment I'll be living in, and know that my tutoring crap is done and over with. And neither of those things have been forthcoming.

    Damn you mel's Roomie!
I am now eyeing 200$ of premium knives lustily - the same knives which I used HALF WAY ACROSS THE WORLD, and thought it important enough to mention and find out which ones they were, and go look them up online, and find that I could get a set of seven knives, kitchen shears and a steel for 200$.

    ...

Yes, I'm a kitchen itemophile. Especially good knives.

... Quit looking at me like that.

    A belated congratulations!
My man got a full time job! Yay for him! *dances* I know this takes a lot of worry out of his mind (and mine too, truth be told) and yay! Job!

Well... I'm home. Have a raging headache, blah blah blah. Didn't make as much progress as I had hoped, but I made enough. Only time will tell.

    Crappity crap.
Well, the place I was really enthused about, the woman renting it wants to wait another two weeks to see if they can get a buyer for it. So if anybody has any universal apartment/condo strings to pull, if tey could pull them to make NOBODY WANT THEIR CONDO, that would be greatly appreciated.

What does this mean? I'm looking at other options, mainly the campus housing units which I saw. None of them had wonderful washer/drier units, which were somethign my roomie wanted, byt they all HAD washer/drier units available, usually in the basement for coins, so that might have to do. The other option is a slightly more expensive but very easily accessable apartment with a poor parking situation and a gas range. but I have a feeling I'll just have to wait and see if it's stil available in two weeks. (granted, if I have to go looking for another apartment, statistically speaking, it's more likely that I'll know that by less than two weeks, but still)

Wrar wrar wrar. And my cell is delaying sending out text messages, so Bryson got really confused.

    There and here.
The first thing which has struck me about St Louis is the obviously different racial makeup. LA has everyone from everywhere in vast quantities. St Louis has... white people and black people. Not many asians, middle-easterners or hispanics, and by no many, I mean you have to seek them out. I think of the last six bus rides, two of them I was not the only white girl on the bus. So... just like home. :)

Also, folks seem much frendlier here. You walk down the street and folks smile at each other and nod, or say hello, dispite thefact that they obviously don't have a blinkin clue who I am. Aside from bus drivers (who seem to be the most studiously ill tempered people on earth) everyone has been very friendly and open. Yay me. Als, people will not stop asking me for directions. The thing is, half the time I can hep them, but when asked things like, "My girlfriend needs this brand of cigarettes! Where can she find them? Isn't there anywhere herewhat sells cigarettes?" I really can't help.

Finally, it's damned hot. This isn't unusual for LA, but it's damned hot and muggy. high of 96 today, with humidity and everything. It feels like walking into av ery warm oven when you step outside. I've been drinking y weight in water every day, and still I've had not as much success as I would hope at keeping hydrated.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

I'm looking forward to moving here - I really am. I can walk/METRO to school, I'll be getting paid a living wage, and I'll be going to school in something I'm excited about. I get to live with my boyfriend, who will likely be better able to persu his dreams here, and I get to live in a lovely neighborhood with people I like, in a place where rain is a naturally occuring commodity.
    2:18 pm
    MORE APARTMENTNESS.
Have gotten in contact with the roomie and we have agreed on the Condo of Awesomeness. Her main requirements for a place were that you could do laundry in it, and that it was a quick commute to campus. This placeis both so she's happy. I'm happy 'cause it's quite nice, in a quiet neighborhood, has a ton of kitchen storage, and a nicely sized bedroom for Bryson and I. Downside? Top floor (3rd) and electric stove. Why do people here keep saying 'all electric' like it's a selling point? Electric stoves suck ass. Like WOAH. They're awful. They take forever toheat water, and they burn everything, or don't cook it quickly enough.

But now I just wish the woman renting/selling the condo would get back to me so I could quit worrying about not getting it maybe!

Wrar! And they sent me to a grocery store which did not exist. I was rather annoyed.

    Heeeeeelp!
Does anybody have Life On Mars online or in DVD'ish format in such a way that I could get series 2 for myself to watch? Anybody? I will pay in chocolate.

    Thanks!

    APARTMENTS.
Found a pretty damned awesome apartment - a condo being rented, actually, which I'm pretty much sure on. Awesome location (5 minutes from metro whcih is 5 minutes from school, the metro being free to students!) and a really quiet neighborhood, a washer and drier included, and huge quantities of basement storage (a must for SCA households). It's within the price range, and honestly, if we live there a bit and continue to like it, I'd seriously consider buying it off the woman (as it's in my price range, kinda sorta, if Bryson gets a decent job and we work together).

    So... YAY! APARTMENTNESS.

    Nine down.
Well, have appointments with nine properties for viewings. Have maps of said viewings. Have all Thursday free for more viewings as they might come up, or for wandering the neighborhood and seeing what I can see about already enticing properties (ie, are they dodgy at night, do they have street parking, are they filled with damned rowdy kids/knackers/yobbos?).
